The Padres re-signed Davis to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: Davis, who turns 32 in February, made seven appearances for San Diego in 2024, allowing eight runs (seven earned) over seven innings. The lefty reliever will try to win a spot in the Padres' bullpen but is likelier to begin the 2025 season at Triple-A El Paso.
Niko Goodrum
Niko Goodrum Signs with Padres
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 9:18 PM
Goodrum signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Friday.
Analysis: Goodrum had productive seasons from 2018-2020 but has played minimally in the majors since 2021. He'll likely serve as versatile organizational depth for the Padres, though he could grab a handful of plate appearances in the big leagues.
Martin Maldonado
Martin Maldonado Signs on with San Diego
Thu, Jan 16, 2025, 4:03 PM
The Padres signed Maldonado to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Maldonado was released by the White Sox in July of this past season after slashing just .119/.174/.230 in 147 plate appearances. The 38-year-old has also earned a minus-21 Run Value via Baseball Savant over the last two seasons for his defensive work. The Padres do have a tenuous catching situation with Luis Campusano coming off a disappointing season and Brett Sullivan currently slated to back him up, so it's possible Maldonado wins a roster spot.

Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 2:55 PM
The Padres signed Wendelken to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: Wendelken is coming off a successful two-year stint in Japan with the Yokohama Bay Stars, having posted a 1.57 ERA and 87:33 K:BB over 92 innings. The 31-year-old reliever has collected a 4.00 ERA and 151:70 K:BB across 159.2 frames covering parts of six seasons at the big-league level.

Analysis: Cease will receive a raise of almost $6 million in his final year of arbitration eligibility. The 29-year-old posted a 3.47 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 224:65 K:BB over 189.1 innings during the regular season and is now entering a contract year.

Analysis: After arriving in San Diego from Tampa Bay at last season's trade deadline, Adam dominated to the tune of a 1.01 ERA and 0.79 WHIP over 26.2 innings. As a result, he's been rewarded with a $2.1 million raise and will likely continue to work as a setup man for closer Robert Suarez.
Adrian Morejon
Adrian Morejon Avoids arbitration with San Diego
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 11:51 AM
The Padres and Morejon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2 million contract Thursday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Analysis: Morejon was in his second year of arbitration eligibility. The left-hander was excellent out of the San Diego bullpen in 2024, putting up a 2.83 ERA and 71:21 K:BB over 63.2 regular-season innings. However, the club is thinking about stretching him out this spring as a candidate to join its rotation.
Luis Arraez

Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 11:38 AM
Arraez and the Padres agreed to a one-year, $14 million contract Thursday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: Arraez will receive a raise of nearly $3.5 million for his final year of arbitration eligibility in 2025. The 27-year-old took a step back in 2024 with a .314/.346/.392 slash line in 150 regular-season games between Miami and San Diego, though he still won the National League batting title for the second straight year. Arraez underwent surgery in October to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, but he's expected to enter spring training at full health.
Luis Campusano
Luis Campusano Gets $1 million from San Diego
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 10:40 AM
The Padres and Campusano avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1 million contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: It was Campusano's first year of arbitration eligibility. The 26-year-old entered last season as the Padres' top catcher, but he was eventually passed on the depth chart by Kyle Higashioka and finished with just a .227/.281/.361 slash line while spending some time in the minors. Higashioka is now with the Rangers and Campusano is currently at the top of the catching hierarchy again in San Diego, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the club brought someone in to at least share the job.
Luis Patino
Luis Patino Back with San Diego on MiLB deal
Tue, Jan 7, 2025, 11:42 AM
The Padres re-signed Patino (elbow) to a minor-league contract Monday.
Analysis: Patino was non-tendered by San Diego in November but returns to the organization as he continues his rehab from April 2024 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander is unlikely to be ready to pitch until around midseason.

Jose Espada
Jose Espada Back with San Diego as NRI
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 1:18 PM
The Padres signed Espada to a minor-league contract Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, MiLB Central reports.
Analysis: Espada appeared in one game with the Padres in 2023 before spending the 2024 season with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Nippon Professional Baseball. Slated to turn 28 in February, Espada has a career 26.6 percent strikeout rate at the minor-league level.
Adrian Morejon
Adrian Morejon Candidate for rotation
Thu, Dec 12, 2024, 1:01 PM
The Padres could move Morejon into the rotation next season. AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Padres currently have only three starters locked into their 2025 rotation in Dylan Cease, Michael King and Yu Darvish, and they're entertaining trade offers on Cease. Morejon thrived out of the bullpen last season, posting a 2.83 ERA and 71:21 K:BB over 63.2 innings. However, he has past starting experience and throws five pitches, so stretching him out would make sense. What role the Padres ultimately decide on for Morejon could depend largely on what moves president of baseball operations A.J. Preller makes this winter.
Mason McCoy
Mason McCoy Back in San Diego as NRI
Fri, Dec 6, 2024, 3:52 PM
The Padres re-signed McCoy to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Russell Dorsey of Yahoo Sports reports.

Slated to turn 27 in January, Gonzalez hit .269/.299/.413 over 145 contests with the Guardians from 2022-23.
Tyler Wade
Tyler Wade Avoids arbitration
Fri, Nov 22, 2024, 4:10 PM
Wade signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Padres on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Wade struggled at the big-league level in 2024, slashing just .217/.285/.239 across 155 plate appearances. However, the Padres will keep him around for another year to serve as bench depth, and the 29-year-old will earn a $50,000 raise in the process.
Trenton Brooks
Trenton Brooks Lands with Friars
Tue, Nov 19, 2024, 11:09 PM
Brooks signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Wednesday.
Analysis: Brooks struggled in his first 12 games as a big-leaguer, going just 3-for-25 with an RBI and six strikeouts with the Giants last year. However, he slashed .302/.410/.453 with 58 RBI over 407 plate appearance in the minors, which is good enough for the Padres to bring him in as organizational depth at first base.
Wandy Peralta
Wandy Peralta Staying in San Diego
Sat, Nov 2, 2024, 12:19 PM
Peralta exercised his $4.25 million player option for 2025 on Saturday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Peralta turned in a 3.99 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 38.1 frames in 2024, and he'll now receive a $900,000 raise by accepting the first of three player options in his deal with the Padres. He will presumably continue to be used in mid-to-high-leverage situations.
Luis Arraez
Luis Arraez Undergoes surgery on thumb
Wed, Oct 16, 2024, 2:22 PM
Arraez underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Analysis: Arraez initially injured the thumb back in late June but played through the issue for the remainder of the season. The expectation is that he will be ready for the start of spring training. Arraez will be eligible for salary arbitration for the final time this offseason.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim Hoping for mid-April return
Sat, Oct 12, 2024, 9:24 PM
Kim (shoulder) is hoping to be ready for game action by mid-April, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Kim underwent shoulder surgery Friday after missing the last six weeks of the regular season and all of the postseason. He's entering free agency and a pivotal offseason, and while he should make a full recovery, he could miss up to the first month of the 2025 campaign.
