Ron Marinaccio
Ron Marinaccio Given three-game suspension
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 5:33 PM
Marinaccio was suspended three games by Major League Baseball for intentionally hitting Gunnar Henderson with a pitch during Saturday's game versus the Orioles, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marinaccio has appealed the ban, so he will be available out of the bullpen for Monday's series opener in St. Louis. Manager Craig Stammen was also suspended one game, and he must serve the suspension Monday.
Samad Taylor
Samad Taylor On bench for series opener
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 4:02 PM
Taylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Taylor will retreat to the bench after he had started in left field in each of the Padres' last seven games while going 10-for-26 (.385 average) with a home run, three walks, two stolen bases, eight RBI and five runs during that stretch. Gavin Sheets will get the nod in left field Monday, but Taylor should have a fairly clear path to an everyday role so long as he remains productive at the plate.
Kyle Hart
Kyle Hart Recalled from Triple-A
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:48 PM
The Padres recalled Hart from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
Analysis: Hart made the Padres' Opening Day roster but was sent down in early May after collecting a 5.40 ERA and 10:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings in his first 12 appearances. He struggled at hitter-friendly El Paso, as well, with a 7.36 ERA, and the lefty will be used in a low-leverage situations.
Bryce Johnson
Bryce Johnson Passes through waivers
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:46 PM
The Padres outrighted Johnson to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
Analysis: Johnson will stick around in the organization as outfield depth at the Triple-A level after he went unclaimed off waivers when the Padres designated him for assignment over the weekend. Prior to losing his spot on the 40-man roster, the 30-year-old Johnson struggled to produce in his limited opportunities with San Diego, slashing .178/.229/.222 with no home runs, five steals, five runs and two RBI across 49 plate appearances.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Goes on bereavement leave
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:43 PM
The Padres placed Miller on the bereavement/family medical leave list Monday.
Analysis: According to MLB rules, Miller must remain on the bereavement list for at least the next three days and no more than seven. Jason Adam has served as the Friars' top setup man and could represent the top choice for any save chances that arise while Miller is away from the team. Miller is well on his way to earning the second All-Star nod of his career this season, as he's converted all 19 of his save opportunities while submitting a 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB over 30 innings.
Lucas Giolito
Lucas Giolito Following opener Monday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 2:26 PM
Giolito is expected to operate in a bulk-relief role Monday in St. Louis with right-hander Wandy Peralta serving as the Padres' opening pitcher in the series opener, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Analysis: Giolito has struggling since making his Padres debut May 17, posting a 4.35 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 14:18 K:BB over 20.2 innings covering five starts. As a result of Giolito's ongoing struggles, the club will take a new approach with his turn through the rotation and send Wandy Peralta to the bump to cover the first inning or two.
Wandy Peralta
Wandy Peralta Serving as opener Monday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 2:22 PM
Peralta will serve as the Padres' opening pitcher in Monday's game versus the Cardinals.
Analysis: Peralta is expected to work the first inning or two before giving way to Lucas Giolito, who will operate as a bulk reliever Monday after starting in his first five appearances for the Padres. Peralta has managed to go unscored upon in 14 of his last 15 appearances, but he has an ugly 12:13 K:BB over 19.2 innings during that stretch.
Adrian Morejon
Adrian Morejon Registers 12th hold
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:23 PM
Morejon notched a hold against the Orioles on Sunday, allowing one hit with no walks or strikeouts over 1.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: Morejon entered in the seventh inning with the Padres up 4-2 and a runner on first base. He needed just three pitches to get out of the frame, as he induced a double-play grounder off the bat of Adley Rutschman. Morejon then retired the first two batters he faced in the eighth before giving up an infield single, and he was subsequently replaced by closer Mason Miller. The southpaw recorded his 12th hold of the campaign, which is second-most on San Diego behind Jason Adam. Morejon's 4.00 ERA isn't exceptional, but he has a more appealing 1.06 WHIP and 41:7 K:BB over 36 innings spanning 33 relief appearances.
Rodolfo Duran
Rodolfo Duran Goes deep again Sunday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:03 PM
Duran went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three total RBI and two total runs in a 5-2 win against Baltimore on Sunday.
Analysis: With Freddy Fermin placed on the 7-day injured list early Sunday due to a concussion, Duran got the start behind the plate. He ended up being the star of San Diego's offense, producing both of the team's extra-base hits (an RBI double and a two-run homer) from the No. 9 spot in the batting order. Duran also went deep Saturday after entering for Fermin late in the contest, and he now has four extra-base hits (two doubles, two homers) and four RBI over his past nine plate appearances. Duran should serve as the Padres' primary catcher until Fermin or Luis Campusano (toe) returns to action. He's still batting a meager .176 on the campaign, but half of his six hits have left he park, and he went deep 15 times over 85 contests with Triple-A El Paso last season, so he could provide some temporary pop for fantasy managers in need of a backstop, particularly in two-catcher leagues.
Matt Waldron
Matt Waldron Begins rehab assignment
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 8:26 AM
Waldron (forearm) made his first rehab appearance with Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: Waldron breezed through his 2.1 frames on 27 pitches, yielding just one hit. It was Waldron's first outing in exactly one month, as he's working his way back from a right brachialis muscle injury. If the knuckleballer is added back to the major-league roster at the conclusion of his rehab assignment, he is expected to be used in a relief role.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Brilliant campaign continues
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 7:00 PM
Miller secured the save Sunday against the Orioles, throwing 1.1 clean innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: The Orioles had no answer for Miller, who punched out at least three hitters Sunday for the 11th time already this year. The hard-throwing right-hander has been a lights-out closer for the Padres and fantasy managers alike in 2026, converting all 19 of his save opportunities so far. Miller, who leads the National League in saves, has a shiny 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB over 30 frames.
Walker Buehler
Walker Buehler Mostly cruises in fourth win
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 6:48 PM
Buehler (4-3) notched the win Sunday against the Orioles, allowing one run on six hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: Other than serving up a fifth-inning Jeremiah Jackson solo home run, Buehler was excellent Sunday while pouring in 60 of his 86 pitches for strikes. The 31-year-old right-hander is gaining momentum on the hill as of late, tossing at least 4.2 innings while giving up two runs or fewer in four consecutive starts. Buehler will aim to further improve on a 4.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 58:22 K:BB over 67.1 innings in a fairly soft matchup against the Rangers in Texas his next time out.
Ty Adcock
Ty Adcock Loses 40-man spot
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 12:06 PM
The Padres designated Adcock for assignment Sunday.
Analysis: Adcock will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to catcher Blake Hunt, who was called up from Triple-A El Paso to provide depth behind the plate after Freddy Fermin (concussion) joined Luis Campusano (toe) on the injured list Sunday. The right-handed reliever made three appearances in the big leagues for the Mets in 2025 but had pitching exclusively in the minors this season, logging a 7.15 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 11.1 innings across stops with three of the Padres' affiliates.
Blake Hunt
Blake Hunt Summoned from Triple-A
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 12:04 PM
The Padres selected Hunt's contract from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.
Analysis: With the Padres moving top backstop Freddy Fermin (concussion) to the 7-day injured list, Hunt will receive second big-league call-up of his career. He's still waiting to make his MLB debut, however, as he didn't get the chance to play during a one-day stint in the majors with the Orioles in 2024. Hunt will add depth at catcher behind Rodolfo Duran, who is expected to serve as the Friars' primary option behind the plate while Fermin is on the shelf through at least next Saturday.
Freddy Fermin
Freddy Fermin Sent to 7-day IL
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 12:00 PM
The Padres placed Fermin (concussion) on the 7-day injured list Sunday.
Analysis: Fermin won't be available for at least the Padres' next six games after he was diagnosed with a concussion following his early exit in the team's 9-3 win Saturday, when he was hit in the mask by a pitch prior to the sixth inning. San Diego called up Blake Hunt from Triple-A El Paso to provide another healthy body behind the plate behind Rodolfo Duran, who will handle catching duties in Sunday's series finale in Baltimore.
Will Wagner
Will Wagner Handling strong-side platoon role
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:49 AM
Wagner is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: With the Orioles sending lefty Trevor Rogers to the hill for the series finale, the left-handed-hitting Wagner will give way to the right-handed-hitting Nick Solak at designated hitter. Wagner had started each of the Padres' last four games against righties, going 4-for-8 with a double and four walks. The 27-year-old could have a fairly clear path to a strong-side platoon role until the Padres get Miguel Andujar (hamstring) back from the injured list.
Freddy Fermin
Freddy Fermin Not starting Sunday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:41 AM
Fermin (head) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: Fermin will be left out of the starting nine for the series finale after he was removed from Saturday's 9-3 win when he was hit in the mask by a Yuki Matsui warmup pitch prior to the sixth inning. According to MLB.com, manager Craig Stammen said that the Padres plan to "be careful" with Fermin, who was previously removed from an April 15 game against Seattle after being hit in the mask. The Padres evaluated Fermin for a concussion following his early exit, but the team hasn't confirmed that he's experiencing any symptoms. Rodolfo Duran will get the start at catcher Sunday, and Blake Hunt has joined the Padres' taxi squad from Triple-A El Paso and will presumably be activated if Fermin needs to go on the injured list.
Xander Bogaerts
Xander Bogaerts Good to go Sunday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:41 AM
Bogaerts (head) is starting at shortstop and batting cleanup Sunday against the Orioles.
Analysis: The veteran shortstop was hit in the head by a pitch during Saturday's contest and exited the game a short while later, but his presence in the lineup Sunday indicates he has no lingering issues. Bogaerts has struggled at the plate in June with a .148/.303/.185 slash line and 27.3 percent strikeout rate through nine games this month.
Jackson Merrill
Jackson Merrill Contributes homer Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 8:52 AM
Merrill went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk versus the Orioles in Saturday's 9-3 win.
Analysis: Merrill opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning. That was the initial salvo in what would become a five-homer day for San Diego's offense. The long ball was Merrill's second in what has been a rough June so far, as he's slashing just .178/.229/.378 through 11 contests this month. However, four of his eight knocks during that stretch have gone for extra bases, and his 20.8 percent strikeout rate in June is an improvement on his 24.2 percent mark overall on the campaign.
Gavin Sheets
Gavin Sheets Swats homer Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 8:47 AM
Sheets went 1-for-5 with a solo home run against Baltimore in a 9-3 victory Saturday.
Analysis: Sheets was one of five Padres to go deep in the win, and his seventh-inning solo shot gave the team a 7-2 lead. The veteran slugger has played a key role in San Diego's offense this season, ranking second on the club in homers (11) and RBI (30). Sheets' defensive versatility has also been useful, as he's jumped around between first base and right field while also logging starts at DH.
