Jason Adam
Jason Adam Will throw off mound in spring
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 9:30 AM
Adam (quadriceps) is expected to be ready to throw off a mound sometime during spring training, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Adam underwent surgery in September to repair a torn left quad tendon. While it seems a stint on the injured list to begin the 2026 season is likely, Adam might not need to miss much time. The 34-year-old boasts a 1.66 ERA and 101:32 K:BB over 92 regular-season innings during his time with the Padres.
David Morgan
David Morgan Sticking in relief role
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 2:51 PM
Padres manager Craig Stammen said Monday that Morgan will remain in a relief role in 2026, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Consideration was given to stretching Morgan out to be an option for the Padres' rotation, but the club has ultimately decided to keep him in the bullpen. Morgan held a 2.66 ERA and 50:23 K:BB over 47.1 regular-season innings for the Padres in 2025 and is pegged for a middle relief role in 2026.
Adrian Morejon
Adrian Morejon Will stay in relief role
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 2:44 PM
Padres manager Craig Stammen said Monday that Morejon will remain in the bullpen next season, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Morejon has past starting experience and the Padres had considered moving him into their rotation in 2026. However, it's been decided to keep the lefty in a relief role instead. Morejon has posted a 2.42 ERA and 141:38 K:BB over 137.1 regular-season innings as a full-time reliever since the start of the 2024 campaign. The Padres are also keeping Mason Miller in a relief role, so Morejon likely won't see many, if any, save chances unless Miller gets injured.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Remaining in bullpen
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 2:40 PM
Padres manager Craig Stammen said Monday that Miller will remain in the bullpen next season, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Padres mulled the idea of shifting Miller to their rotation, but Stammen noted Monday that that move would have been "a risky proposition health-wise and performance-wise." With confirmation that he'll stay in the bullpen, Miller should open 2026 as the Padres' closer and has a strong case to be the first reliever to be taken in fantasy drafts. The 27-year-old boasts a 2.56 ERA and 43.1 percent strikeout rate over the last two regular seasons, notching 28 saves over that time.
Ty Adcock
Ty Adcock Gets MLB deal from Padres
Thu, Dec 4, 2025, 2:53 PM
The Padres signed Adcock to a one-year contract Thursday.
Analysis: Adcock got into three games with the Mets in 2025 but spent most of the season at Triple-A Syracuse, where he posted a 4.66 ERA and 35:14 K:BB over 36.2 frames. The right-handed reliever does not have minor-league options remaining and has previously been outrighted, so he'd seem to be a good bet to be part of the Padres' Opening Day bullpen.
Carlos Rodriguez
Carlos Rodriguez Invited to Padres' camp
Fri, Nov 21, 2025, 7:54 PM
Rodriguez signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Rodriguez spent most of 2025 with Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate, where he slashed .247/.320/.323 with eight homers, 33 RBI, 53 runs scored and 17 steals across 531 plate appearances. The 24-year-old outfielder has yet to make his MLB debut and will likely begin 2026 at Triple-A El Paso.
Luis Campusano
Luis Campusano Secures contract for '26
Fri, Nov 21, 2025, 6:14 PM
Campusano signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Padres on Friday.
Analysis: Campusano went 0-for-21 with six walks and 11 strikeouts in the majors during the 2025 regular season, but he continued to show promise in the minors, finishing with a .334/.438/.586 slash line over 466 plate appearances at Triple-A El Paso. The 27-year-old owns a .666 OPS through 178 games in his big-league career but will have a chance to win a spot on San Diego's Opening Day roster this spring.
Pablo Reyes
Pablo Reyes Gets minors deal from San Diego
Thu, Nov 20, 2025, 11:36 AM
The Padres signed Reyes to a minor-league contract Nov. 6.
Analysis: Reyes had a .468 OPS in 24 games with the Yankees in 2025 but spent most of the season at Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets organization. The 32-year-old is a career .245/.305/.342 hitter across parts of seven major-league seasons and will provide the Padres with some utility depth at Triple-A El Paso.
Kyle Hart
Kyle Hart Re-ups with San Diego
Mon, Nov 17, 2025, 10:36 AM
The Padres re-signed Hart to a one-year, $1 million contract with a $2.5 million club option for 2027 on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: The Padres declined Hart's $5 million club option for 2026 earlier this month, but they've now brought him back at a lesser rate. Hart split his time between the majors and minors in 2025, finishing with a 5.86 ERA and 37:13 K:BB over 43 regular-season innings covering six starts and 14 relief outings with the big club. The southpaw will compete for an Opening Day roster spot -- perhaps in a swingman role -- but does have minor-league options remaining.
David Morgan
David Morgan Candidate to move into rotation
Wed, Nov 12, 2025, 8:55 AM
The Padres are considering moving Morgan into their rotation next season, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic report.
Analysis: Mason Miller and Adrian Morejon are the more high-profile names being mulled for a shift from the bullpen to the rotation, but Morgan is also under consideration. A former infielder and undrafted free agent who didn't begin pitching until 2022, Morgan posted a 2.66 ERA and 50:23 K:BB over 47.1 regular-season innings for the Padres in 2025. The 26-year-old had two opener assignments for the Padres, but the last time he made a traditional start came in 2022 at Hope International, an NAIA school.
Ramon Laureano
Ramon Laureano Staying in San Diego
Thu, Nov 6, 2025, 12:09 PM
The Padres exercised Laureano's (finger) $6.5 million club option for 2026 on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Laureano had a big 2025 season between the Orioles and Padres, slashing .281/.342/.512 with 24 home runs and seven stolen bases across 132 regular-season contests. The 31-year-old's season ended in late September when he suffered a fractured right index finger, but he'll be healed in time for spring training. Laureano is set to open the 2026 campaign as the Padres' everyday left fielder.
Yu Darvish
Yu Darvish Out for 2026 after UCL surgery
Tue, Nov 4, 2025, 2:19 PM
Darvish will miss the 2026 season following a right elbow UCL repair with an internal brace and flexor tendon surgery on Oct. 29.
Analysis: Darvish has missed time each of the last three seasons with elbow issues, having been limited to 72 regular-season innings in 2025. It's unclear how long he's been pitching with UCL damage, but the decision was finally made to have surgery on the elbow. It's the second UCL repair for Darvish, who had Tommy John surgery in March 2015. Darvish turned 39 in August, but he intends to rehab and return to the Padres for the 2027 season.
Wandy Peralta
Wandy Peralta Exercises player option
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 1:43 PM
Peralta exercised his $4.45 million player option for 2026 on Monday, Sammy Levitt of 97.3 The Fan San Diego reports.
Analysis: Peralta made 71 appearances out of the Padres' bullpen in 2025, collecting a 3.14 ERA and 63:30 K:BB over 71.2 innings. The veteran reliever will be one of San Diego's key bullpen arms from the left side again in 2026.
Nestor Cortes
Nestor Cortes Undergoes surgery
Thu, Oct 16, 2025, 9:11 PM
Cortes (biceps) underwent surgery to repair a tendon tear in his left arm Thursday and will be sidelined for 9-to-10 months, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Analysis: Cortes landed on the injured list Sept. 5 with a biceps injury. He was ramping up for a potential return through the end of the month, though he apparently suffered a setback or was rediagnosed. Cortes will now be set to miss most of the 2026 season.
Adrian Morejon
Adrian Morejon Move into rotation not ruled out
Tue, Oct 14, 2025, 1:19 PM
Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller said Tuesday that the organization will have conversations soon about the possibility of moving Morejon into the starting rotation in 2026, 97.3 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Morejon boasts a 2.42 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 141:38 K:BB over 137.1 regular-season innings as a full-time reliever since the start of the 2024 campaign. He was often used as a starting pitcher earlier in his career, though, and the Padres could have a clear need in the rotation next season if Dylan Cease and Michael King depart in free agency. San Diego is also mulling shifting Mason Miller into the rotation.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Role in 2026 undetermined
Tue, Oct 14, 2025, 1:14 PM
Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller said Tuesday that the team will discuss in the coming weeks whether Miller will remain in the bullpen or move into the starting rotation next season, 97.3 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Miller has been a full-time reliever the last two seasons and has been arguably the best bullpen arm in the game during that span, collecting a 2.56 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 43.1 percent strikeout rate over 115 regular-season appearances. If the Padres elect to keep him in a relief role, he would likely take over as closer, as incumbent Robert Suarez is expected to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract and become a free agent. However, Miller has past experience as a starter and the club could try him in that role, particularly if it loses both Dylan Cease and Michael King in free agency.
Jose Iglesias
Jose Iglesias Suspended one game by MLB
Fri, Oct 10, 2025, 1:43 PM
Iglesias has been suspended one game by Major League Baseball for his actions following Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series against the Cubs, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Iglesias was among several Padres players to voice their displeasure to the umpire crew following their Game 3 loss, but he's the only one to receive a suspension. Much of the angst was over a strike three call on Xander Bogaerts, who received a fine for his actions. Barring a successful appeal, Iglesias will serve the suspension Opening Day next year. The 35-year-old is an impending free agent.
Jason Adam
Jason Adam Shifted to 60-day injured list
Wed, Oct 1, 2025, 8:10 AM
The Padres transferred Adam (quadriceps) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Martin Maldonado. Adam underwent season-ending surgery in early September to repair a ruptured left quadriceps tendon and is expected to require 6-to-9 months to recover.
Martin Maldonado
Martin Maldonado Contract selected
Tue, Sep 30, 2025, 10:59 AM
The Padres selected Maldonado's contract from the Arizona Complex League Padres on Tuesday.
Analysis: Maldonado is one of three catchers included on the team's wild-card roster, as he'll join Luis Campusano as a backup behind Freddy Fermin while Elias Diaz (oblique) recuperates. Fermin is expected to start every game during the series versus the Cubs, per Dennis Lin of The Athletic, so Maldonado is around merely as emergency depth.
Jose Iglesias
Jose Iglesias Absent from Game 1 lineup
Tue, Sep 30, 2025, 10:52 AM
Iglesias is not in the lineup Tuesday for Game 1 of the Wild Card Series versus the Cubs.
Analysis: Iglesias started the last two games of the regular season, but he'll retreat to the bench for the first game of the postseason. Jake Cronenworth will occupy second base against lefty Matthew Boyd and the Cubs.
